~ (1998) is a multicomponent behavioural treatment program designed to decrease social anxiety, improve interpersonal skills and increase the range of social activities an individual is able to enjoy. This program follows a 28 session counselling schedule, spread over a period of four months. Both group and individual sessions are used to expose clients to controlled social-skills training, in order to reduce anxiety and improve social functioning.

~ is a self-report inventory designed to assess specific somatic symptoms, cognitions, and behaviors across a large range of fear-producing situations. Social anxiety and fear are measured on two subscales: social phobia and agoraphobia. There are 45 items which can be used in screening, schools, treatment facilities, prisons, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and occupational settings to identify those who may have difficulties in jobs with high levels of social interaction and social performance.

~ (1999) is an inventory for assessing social fears and anxiety in children. SPAI-C consists of 26 items. Content identifies underlying social fears which may be expressed as poor school performance, oppositional behaviour, or truancy. Although, this assessment is modeled on the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory for adults, it includes DSM-IV descriptors specifically written for children.
